The markets were all down again last night as the world commodity markets implode.
But that’s not the major concern; just when we thought things were improving in the West, suddenly, the wind changes and everything has gone pear shaped.
The West can’t win a trick these days, with live exports banned and now Simpson has packed up his Donkey and is leaving the “winning games” desert.
I hope he is not looking for greener pastures where the Kangaroos graze at Arden Street as they are also in a Green Drought.
Then again, maybe he will go to Bali for a rest.
Whilst on the topic of Bali, there is barely any barley left, so maybe the exporters should also go on a Bali break.
What am I on about, I hear you say.
I have been crunching some numbers to see how we are tracking with barley supplies.
I have been banging on for a while about the export pace and how things are getting tighter.
However, how the market has been trading like we are flush with stocks, says the reporter standing in front of a burning building in the background; reporting “there is nothing to see here”, as the building explodes and collapses behind him.
At the end of July, which considers what is on the stems today, total BULK exports for the 23/24 marketing year will be around 6.2 million tonnes. Add in 500,000 tonnes of boxes; so, call it 6.7 million tonnes of exports.
