Grain Report Tuesday - 18th April
What price do you want for your grain?
Overnight moves in international markets and yesterday's actual traded prices across Australia are below to help you determine your price. If you need to change your offer price, simply edit it before market open.
Look Out!
US futures markets were all in the green again last night, driven by US weather and crop conditions, and continued tensions in the Black Sea region.
US Hard red winter good to excellent conditions were unchanged, but poor to we are absolutely knackered, sell the farm increased from 37% to 39%.
Spring wheat plantings are also behind due to snow cover, running 5% behind last year's pace of 8%.
Hard red winter and Spring wheat make up around 65% of the US wheat crop, so they are important to US production.
I wonder where our planting progress is at? Sssshhh, that’s a secret.
US corn exports last week were a very solid 1.215 million tonnes, above trade expectations. I wonder who has been buying up US corn, I will give you a hint, it rhymes with a young child, or a person that digs up coal and resources.
Actually, China only made up 25% of corn exports from US last week, I just wanted to throw in a rhyming joke.
I wonder what Australia exported last week?
Our markets seem to be just bumping along, apart from NSW, where seller sold APW at $412 Track Kembla equivalent and another at $407.75 Track equivalent. But then there are some APW trades at $390.75 and $395.75.
That’s almost a $22 spread on highest price to lowest price over the same period. As a seller, you have control to manage your offers, even if you are not a keen seller, list it $20 higher and who knows you might get hit.
In the Melbourne zone over the last 5 days, APW has been traded at $382 Track and $398.50 Track or a spread of $16.50.
I know what price I like.
Farming is tough, don’t give your grain away, the market needs it to fill boats.
