Prices hold vs the CBOT plunge

Reports of new international purchases during the past week was welcome news for the market looking for firm price indications as supply from the northern hemisphere becomes available. The traditional buyers of north Africa and the middle east have been active in purchasing cargoes and reportedly new business into Asia continues. This may have helped stabilise prices here in Australia with buyers bidding for or purchasing grain on offer regardless of the softer lead from CBOT wheat futures. Bids placed on offers or resulting trades were much stronger than published bids. 24 different buyers purchased grain offered on CGX last week with more searching for grain on offer. APW1 wheat traded $480/t in Kwinana with noodle grades making $500/t. ASW1 wheat traded $425/t Kwinana, $427/t Melbourne, and $410/t Newcastle. H1 wheat traded $527/t Geelong. SFW1 traded $388/t in Pt Kembla and Newcastle. Feed barley traded $420/t Pt Adelaide, $408/t Geelong, and $390/t Kwinana. Lupins traded $338/t Kwinana. There is still plenty of appetite for Australian grain. Make sure you offer your grain for sale to all buyers, so you have the best chance to sell it for its full value.
