Australian grain hotly sought after

Volumes traded picked up last week on Clear Grain Exchange as buyers stepped up to match prices where many growers were offering. ASW1 made up the majority of grain trading across most port zones with a number of reports indicating lower grades are making up a high proportion of current shipments. Quotes from the "CGX Market Almost Open" report sent each morning before market open, indicate feed wheat has been sold off-shore recently at values above Australian grower prices. Hence there may be some room to move in price when buyers are searching for grades they need. Higher protein wheats were sought after and trading through NSW with APH2, H2 and AUH2 making up 24%, 20% and 18% respectively of all grain traded in the state last week. There was a higher proportion of barley trading through Victoria with malt grades continuing to attract attention and trading $70/t better than feed. APW1 and ASW1 wheat was also sought after making up 14% and 16% respectively of all grain traded in Victoria last week. As we move to the south and west, ASW1 wheat was the dominant grade trading making up 51% and 53% of all grain trading through SA and WA respectively. There was plenty of demand for other grades across SA and WA with 17 and 24 grades trading in those states respectively. But the volume was definitely sitting behind the ASW1 bids and it was well sought after with 5 and 11 buyers in SA and WA respectively purchasing just ASW1 grade wheat! This saw those values lead others higher over the week. There are plenty of buyers that want Australian grain. Just last week 46 different buyers purchased grain offered on CGX with more searching for grain. For a complete view of grain traded through Clear Grain Exchange make sure you login to your account. How to offer ISCC canola on CGX

There appears to be some confusion from growers and their agents around offering canola for sale on CGX that was able to be ISCC declared.

If you are comfortable with the ISCC declaration on your canola, remember to offer the grade you have on CGX with the "EU" stamp included. Often buyers require this declaration to buy the canola offered, meaning you often expose your canola to more buyers by making this declaration.

For growers that are unsure of your obligations in regards to the ISCC declaration, and how it may impact the sales process of your offer on CGX, there is further information provided in your CGX account by clicking next to the grade. NGR can also assist with information about ISCC obligations.

As always if ever in doubt, please simply contact us at anytime for assistance.

You're completely anonymous at all times, you retain title of your grain until you're paid, it costs nothing to have your grain on offer, CGX charges are only incurred if it sells, and we always say to factor those costs into your sale price.
