Demand pushes grain prices
Demand for Australian grain continued to push prices higher last week. Buyers were actively seeking to accumulate and Australian growers were offering grain for sale at their price rather than hitting published cash bids. This saw prices for the majority of grades around Australia increase through last week as buyers outbid each other in order to reach grower target prices and secure the grain. The "CGX Market Almost Open" report, sent each morning before CGX's market open, reported more international trades of physical grain through last week at prices above equivalent prices to Australian growers. Remember, these comparisons don't account for any potential extra supply chain costs (such as delays and demurrage) which are incurred by Australian buyers and may impact their ability to price grower grain. The analysis however does provide another valuable price discovery tool for growers when considering how they will sell their grain. Australian grain is in demand! Just last week 46 different buyers purchased 385,564t of wheat, barley, canola, oats, chickpeas, faba beans, lentils and lupins in almost all port zones around Australia through Clear Grain Exchange. More buyers were searching for grain listed for sale! A summary of what traded is provided in the charts below. How to offer ISCC canola on CGX
There appears to be some confusion from growers and their agents around offering canola for sale on CGX that was able to be ISCC declared.
If you are comfortable with the ISCC declaration on your canola, remember to offer the grade you have on CGX with the "EU" stamp included. Often buyers require this declaration to buy the canola offered, meaning you often expose your canola to more buyers by making this declaration.
For growers that are unsure of your obligations in regards to the ISCC declaration, and how it may impact the sales process of your offer on CGX, there is further information provided in your CGX account by clicking next to the grade. NGR can also assist with information about ISCC obligations.
