Weekly Grain Traded CGX - 13 June

  1. 30 buyers purchased grain last week - 22 different grades of wheat, barley, canola, lupins and sorghum traded on CGX last week.

  2. Appetite for Australian grain remains strong - Almost all commodities, grades and locations are being searched and considered by buyers.

  • 30 buyers purchased grain on CGX - more searching

  • 62 sellers sold grain on CGX with more offering grain for sale

Grain prices improve over the week

30 buyers purchased 22 different grades of wheat, barley, canola, lupins and sorghum through CGX last week with more searching for grain on offer. Wheat grades made up 58% of all tonnes traded, barley 28%, lupins 13%, with canola and sorghum making up the balance. APW1 wheat traded $485/t Kwinana, $481/t Melbourne, and $474/t Pt Kembla as examples. H2 continued to trade in the $500s, while the lower grades are discounted to the milling grade wheats. Barley made up a higher proportion of tonnes sold through the eastern states with malt grades achieving premiums to feed. Commander barley traded $504/t Pt Adelaide as an example. Lupins were also in demand in the west consistently trading $355/t in Kwinana over the week. Appetite for Australian grain remains strong with almost all commodities, grades and locations being searched and considered by buyers for purchase. Sometimes the demand can be unpredictable. If you have grain in warehouse and a price in mind, make sure you've offered it for sale at the price you're targeting. There are often more buyers than you realise trying to purchase grain. Make sure you give all of them the opportunity to buy your grain. You're protected at all times with anonymity and secure settlement.
